OEL value is a key parameter in occupational toxicology and it is defined as the upper acceptable limit on the airborne concentration of a substance in the workplace for a particular material or class of materials. Like other limit values such as PEL (OSHA), TLV (ACGIH) or REL (NIOSH), OEL is used to prevent health effects from handling substances in the work environment.
