OELS CALCULATION AND PRODUCT CATEGORIZATION

The OEL represents a key parameter in occupational exposure and is defined as the acceptable upper limit for the concentration of a substance in the air at the workplace for a particular material or class of materials. Like other limit values such as the PEL (OSHA), TLV (ACGIH), or REL (NIOSH), it is a value used to prevent health effects resulting from the handling of substances in the workplace. At Dalia Global, we have a team of ERT toxicologists with extensive experience in calculating OEL values.
OEB (Occupational Exposure Band) ASSIGNMENT

Reviewing the toxicological data for a substance will enable the OEL to be calculated, i.e., the level of exposure considered safe (based on health) for the presence of the chemical in the air in the workplace. Similarly, the toxicological data available for the substance will allow it to be categorized according to the different classification systems available (Safebridge, Nauman, or the INSST Technical Prevention Notes). Thus, based on the physicochemical and toxicological parameters (preclinical and clinical) available for the substance, occupational exposure bands (OEBs) can be defined, leading to the establishment of different technical and organizational measures, depending on the hazardousness of the substance.

VERIFICATION OF FACILITY/EQUIPMENT CONTAINMENT

Confirming the containment level of facilities and/or equipment in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical manufacturing rooms is key to protecting workers.

In addition, our assessments are based on European standards (UNE-EN 689) and recommendations from the ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering).
